How to Change Your Domain Nameservers

How to Change Your Domain Nameservers

Changing your domain nameservers allows you to point your domain to a different hosting provider.

If you are hosting your website with CJS Host, you may need to update your domain's nameservers to the nameservers provided by CJS Host.

Before changing your nameservers

Make sure you have:

  • Access to your domain registrar

  • Your domain name

  • The correct CJS Host nameservers

You can find the correct nameservers in your CJS Host welcome email or Client Area.

Step 1: Log in to your domain registrar

Log in to the company where your domain is registered.

Step 2: Open your domain settings

Find your domain and open its management settings.

Look for an option such as:

  • Nameservers

  • DNS Settings

  • Manage DNS

  • Custom Nameservers

The exact name depends on your domain registrar.

Step 3: Enter the CJS Host nameservers

Remove the old nameservers and enter the CJS Host nameservers provided for your hosting account.

Make sure they are entered correctly.

Step 4: Save the changes

Save or confirm the nameserver changes.

Step 5: Wait for propagation

Nameserver changes may take time to propagate.

During this period, your website may temporarily behave differently depending on the network being used.

Important

Do not change individual DNS records unless you know what you are doing.

Changing the wrong DNS records can affect:

  • Your website

  • Business email

  • Subdomains

  • Other online services

If you are unsure, contact CJS Host support.
